Grand Rapids @ Roseau
Roseau Memorial Arena, Roseau, MN-7:30 p.m.
2/12/2008
Game Preview:
The Roseau Rams will look to cap off their fourth
undefeated regular season in school history. They have only finished off one of
the previous three by making it a state title. Grand Rapids and Roseau will be a
rematch of last year's state championship game. The Rams were able to get past
Grand Rapids 5-1 for the state title. Roseau will look to double load senior and
Mr. Hockey finalist Aaron Ness to lead the Rams to the 25-0 mark. Ness should be
a junior in high school but he is taking a double load of classes so he can
graduate at the end of this school year. He plans to head south and play with
Patrick White at the University of Minnesota next year. Ness isn't the Ram's
only threat. Mike Lee is putting up numbers that this state has never seen
before. Lee has a career record of 34-0 and has recorded 15 career shutouts. He
also holds a career GAA under 1.00. Tyler Landman is the unsung hero for Roseau
and could be a force in this game. Grand Rapids was able to score just two goals
in two games last season. Corey Kosak scored the only goal in the state
championship last season and he will not play in this game. Kosak is out with a
knee injury. Grand Rapids is just 1-3 in the last two years against Roseau. One
game has been playing in Roseau, one game has been played in Grand Rapids, and
two games have been played at the Xcel Energy Center. Roseau beat Grand Rapids
in that only games in Roseau, 5-1. Grand Rapids is the last regular season
stumbling block for the Rams.
Last meeting:
Roseau 5, Grand Rapids 1 (2007 State Title)
Notes: Grand Rapids is 7-4 on the road
this season. Roseau has won 36 straight games.
Special Teams: Grand Rapids is 23/116 (19.83%) on the power play this
season. Grand Rapids has killed 87/104 (83.65%) of penalties they have taken
this year.

The Roseau Rams capped off their perfect season and Mike Lee set a record in
goal Friday night. Mike Lee and Aaron Ness defeated Grand Rapids 1-0 in the
season finale to push their record to 25-0 on the season. Mike Lee made 13 saves
in the game for his state record 10th shutout of the season. Lee is now 35-0 in
his career and has posted 16 shutouts. Lee is now 3-0 in his career vs. Grand
Rapids and he has only allowed two goals in those three games. For Roseau it was
their 37th straight win and for Ness, it was a final plea for Mr. Hockey.
Outside of Ness' power play goal at 9:01 of the second period, it was all about
the goalies. Grand Rapids goaltenders A.J. Underwood and Trevor Tabaka split the
game as planned. Underwood stopped 26/27 shots in his period and a half while
Trevor Tabaka stopped 15/15 in his period and a half. Grand Rapids will open
their playoff season Tuesday vs. Forest Lake.
