Bloomington Ice Gardens, Bloomington, MN-5:00 p.m.

Game Preview:
Grand Rapids has defeated Bloomington Jefferson in
each of the last two matchups. It took overtime two years ago and the
Thunderhawks prevailed 3-1 last year. Jefferson is currently ranked 6th in the
state and is playing some very good hockey. The Jaguars play in one of the
toughest sections in the state (section 2AA) with Edina, Burnsville, and Holy
Angles all in their section. They also play in the always difficult Lake
Conference. Grand Rapids plays in a pretty tough section of their own (section
7AA) with Duluth East, Cloquet, Anoka, Elk River, Forest Lake, and Andover among
others in the section. The Jags will look to captains Jeff LaBombard and Tommy
O'Donnell to lead the way. Goaltender Jake Swansson and junior forward T.J.
Gallus are also captains that will need to play a big role in this game at home
for Jefferson. Grand Rapids will look to leading scorer Robb Roy and his line
mates Sam Sparen and John Skrbec as well as Tony Palkki and his line mates Jack
Moore and Grant Prokop. It will also be key for Sam Rendle and Corey Kosak to
have solid games at the blue line for the Thunderhawks.
Last meeting:
Grand Rapids 3, Bloomington Jefferson 1 (1/6/2007) Zach More scored twice and
Sam Rendle netted the other Rapid's goal to lead them to a 3-1 win. Rapids
outshot Jefferson 38-31 in the game.
Notes: Sam Rendle scored the first goal of
the game vs. Jefferson last year with assists to Tony Palkki and Sam Sparen.
Those are the only points current players have tallied vs. Bloomington
Jefferson.
Special Teams: Grand Rapids has 10 power play goals this year in 45
chances (22.22%). The Thunderhawks have killed off 40 of 47 (85.11%) penalties
called against them this season.

Bloomington Jefferson won the battle of special teams vs. Grand Rapids on
Saturday. That was the deciding factor in the #6 ranked Jaguars beating the
Thunderhawks 3-1. Bloomington Jefferson went two-for-four on the power play
while holding Grand Rapids to zero-for-six on the power play. Jefferson outshot
Grand Rapids 15-9 in the first period, but both goalies stood tall and it was
0-0 after one period. After a double minor was assessed to Kyle Kleinendorst of
Grand Rapids, Jefferson would take over. The Jaguars scored twice on the two
power plays in the second period. Tommy O'Donnell and Joe Faust tallied the
power play goals. John Skrbec netted his fourth goal of the year early in the
third period to cut the lead in half. Sam Sparen and Robb Roy assisted on the
goal. Tommy O'Donnell answered back halfway through the third by scoring his
