Grand Rapids took advantage of Eveleth and had their biggest game of the year
cruising to a 9-1 Iron Range Conference win in Eveleth. On the same night,
Hibbing defeated International Falls. That means if Grand Rapids wins their next

Range Conference Champions. Sam Sparen kicked off his four point night by
assisting Robb Roy's first period goal to put Grand Rapids up 1-0 after one. John
Skrbec was also credited with an assist on the Roy goal. Grand Rapids outshot
Eveleth 20-4 in the first. The Thunderhawks buzzed in the second period and
tossed 30 shots on Eveleth freshman goaltender Jesse Schilling. Schilling batted
out all but three. Sam Sparen continued his big night by scoring the first goal
of the period with an assist by Robb Roy. Sparen scored again less than a minute
later, this time on the power play to give Grand Rapids the 3-0 advantage. Sparen's sixth power play goal of the year was assisted by Sam Rendle and Eric
Bishop. Billy Shaw scored the fourth goal of the game for Grand Rapids. Duston
Schulte and Sam Sparen assisted on the goal. For Sparen, the assist gives him 50
points in his career. Grand Rapids only led 4-0 after two despite outshooting
Eveleth 50-7 in the first two frames. Grant Prokop scored the first of five
Grand Rapids goals in the third period. Jack Moore and Nate Dumm assisted on Prokop's eighth goal of the year. Billy Shaw would add his second of the game
and third of the season with an assist to J.R. Mackey to make it 6-0 Grand
Rapids. Eveleth ended the Thunderhawks run with their only goal of the game when
Alex Loe snuck one past Trevor Tabaka. Eric Bishop answered back just
twenty-four seconds later with his first career goal for Grand Rapids. John
Skrbec added his second assist of the night. A.J. Merritt would score his first
career goal next. Sam Rendle and Jack Moore each added their second assist of
the game. For Merritt, it was not only the first goal of his career but it came
in the first game he suited for. Matt Jerulle scored his second goal of the year
with just twenty seconds remaining. Nick Serratore assisted on the power play
goal. Grand Rapids was 1/8 on the power play in the game. They held the Eveleth
